If Rick Lazio isn’t pro-abortion, then Stephen Douglas wasn’t pro-slavery. Both were “pro-choice,” meaning that they strongly believed that it should be legal for one person to be free to murder an unborn child or to keep a human being under slavery, respectively.

Just because Lazio voted for the ban on partial-birth abortion does not mean that he isn’t pro-abortion, just like a 19th century anti-abolitionist was no less pro-slaverymerely because he may have opposed certain forms of torture against slaves.

That being said, NY does not have many pro-life conservatives with the profile and experience to mount a successful gubernatorial run, and none of them are currently seeking the governorship. Lazio may yet win the nominationby default (especially since his strongest challenger is a registered Democrat).

“Rick Lazio is not pro abortion.”

Has he changed his position since he ran against Hillary? Because he was proabortion then, except for partial-birth infanticide.

I’d really like to know.
