I am putting the last quote on my FR homepage in my quote section. That is just a perfect quote and true.

TANSTAFL!

You mean TANSTAAFL!

Now, I haven't read the actual book, although I am aware of the gist of what RAH wrote. One thing I saw in the movie is that all criminals who committed crimes above a level of petty theft were executed within a day of their trails. Any crimes less than that were subject to public flogging. Not only that, the system was world-wide.

I'm not sure that system would work here, as with the way things are now, we might lose a third of the population.

But then...come to think of it...that might not be so bad.

I'm toying with the idea of purchasing this, The Virginia Edition of the works of Robert A. Heinlein:

http://www.virginiaedition.com/

The only reason I've been hesitating is the price, $1500 for all 46 volumes! It would be the capstone of my book collection, though. I may have to reconsider.

My favorite short story in “Time enough to love” is
“The Tale of the Man Who Was Too Lazy to Fail”.

David Lamb’s story is in and of itself one of the greatest short stories ever written. The point about laziness triggering innovation is spot on as well.

Just make sure the pages are made of rag paper.

Just make sure the pages are made of rag paper.

As per the web page:

The Virginia Edition will be printed on 50# natural writer's white acid-free paper, and bound in bonded and embossed burgundy leather.

Would this be as good as rag paper?

Wow...not sure. Better do some research. I just know that most modern books use paper that won’t last 50 years or so.
Hope that the price they charge means they are using the best...but I’m don’t know enough to know those stats are good or what.

I’ve been thinking of recommending Moon is a Harsh Mistress for people to read considering the current shape of things....

Please do not think that that horrible movie had anything in common with the book (aside from names and some generalities).I highly recommend the book.
