Sorry - not an excerpt - I hit the wrong button. That was all I had to ask.

It is a poor attempt to offer three flavors of chocolate with one check box. Pity the white guys who are only offered one flavor of vanilla and one check box.

what is a "negro"??? Well, I'm clean, articulate, light skinned and have no negro dialect.
I'll be one if they sends me some money!

Obama had them place that because he has it on his fake BC?
Some of those on my twitter list were outraged when they got their census and saw that. They confronted Obama about it. WTH is negro, Obama?
Most replied to them to place American.

I agree with that so why is black already there and why did thy feel the need to add "negro"...man...is it even worse than before or what??? It does not make any sense - or you say negro right upfront so then no need to say black. What is wrong with that picture? Really weird.

A Negro is someone who is not a Caucasian or Asian (previously know as Mongoloid). (Ok, you knew that. It was a rhetorical question, huh?)

Negro is an anthropologic term describing a race of people, just like Caucasian or Oriental. It was never considered an offensive term. All of the school forms and applications for credit or employment had those terms on them. (You, know, back in the Dark Ages.)

rhetorical question for sure - since black and African Am are already there...I am talking purely race here so your reply is good - their verbiage is really really weird - it's like they have a special breed as "negro" but don't want to call blacks or African Am negros - so who are the negros??? And where is the "outrage" ??? Nobody called that racism yet?
But sorry to repeat myself - who are the negros now?

The Senseless Bureau is using the word “Negro” because it’s Spanish for “black”. They evidently expect a lot of non-English speaking respondents.

Actually probably from Spanish/Portugese “negro.”
Of course, these both come from the Latin. “Niger” not “negrum.”
All meaning black.
To: American Dream 246
This has been discussed elsewhere.
The theory is that many older melanin-enhanced people use the term to refer to themselves. The question is one of self-identification.
To: DallasDeb
You are right!! Too few people know this any more.
On my census for race I checked other and wrote in HUMAN.
That’s the only question I answered besides how many people live here.

I did exactly that also and put N/A for birth date etc... just my name - number of person - human. That's it.
