I didn’t say he wasn’t a great statesman. Nor do I think McCain had a tremendous amount of charisma. I didn’t say that either. McCain was not my choice. Doesn’t really matter anyway because by the time the primary gets to my state the nominee has been chosen. One of the problems in this media savvy country (and one that Reagan understood) is that you not only have to have great ideas but be able to enthusiastically promote them both at home and abroad. Hunter has the right philosophy. It has nothing to do with what he believes. If that was all it took he would have won the last election. He never even got out of the primaries. Never got enough percentage of the vote to lift him from the bottom of the pack. Unfortunately, dynamic communication is vital today. I didn’t make the rules. It’s been like that since Kennedy and Nixon.

I also know some media savvy conservatives that think Palin isn't the "right stuff" and don't want her to be on the ticket again...I know that's anecdotal evidence. But it is what it is....
That said, I'd guess some minds could be changed. And 2012 is a long way off....
FRegards,
I think what everyone is trying to point out is that you need substance AND flash. No reason we can’t have both. There are many conservatives that fit.

That is the biggest problem. Iowa, NH, etc. pick our president. Some of the rest of us would like some representation for a change. It’s that ‘one man, one vote’ thing that sticks in our craw, because our votes mean nothing, we just get the sloppy seconds of what a couple states decided we should have.
I'd stand Hunter's achievements up against any living politician. And 99% of the dead ones.
There lies the problem in a nutshell. The media's influence on our electoral process.
In the old Soviet days, that was known as propaganda.
Not only does the media, but foreign countries pour money into our process, corporate lobbyist roam the halls of congress looking to spread a lil cheer as well.
Horribly corrupt our system has become. No longer do we the people control the process.
“Eventually theyll have to come up with better arguments than my guy is popular, Id think”
I think you’re wrong. I think they’ll do the same stupid crap they’ve been doing for the last 20 years.
I love Duncan Hunter but he will never be the President of the United States.
I beg to differ
Chnace? Twice in one statement?
I see the typical DUmbass RINO responses...Do they really think we will fall for the “we need another media annointed candidate” BS???
We went with the “star power” of Lame McCain - the same dud that all the media whores (and many here who listen to them) came up with as their “best electable” squishy “moderate” candidate....a DUmocrat with an “R” next to his name.
When that didn’t work, they tried to push FLOP Thompson in order to clear out conservatives and make more room for FLIP Romney, Goober Huckerbee, and Juan McAmnesty. That “star power” didn’t rise very far, did it? Once mission was accomplished with all conservatives out of the running, Flop Thompson pulled out too leaving it between three PRO-AMNESTY RINOs.
I will always take the MOST CONSERVATIVE Republican candidate - never again for a RINO. If Hunter runs, then it would be him over anyone currently on the short list.

Dyslexic?
Eh, Rastamon, how goes it. Haven’t seen you for a coon’s age.
As much as I really want Duncan Hunter for President in 2012, I think Palin has a better chance. We haven’t yet had a female president, Palin fill the bill while being a genuine Conservative.
Paul Ryan is a the top of my list at the moment as well. Maybe Ryan/Demint or more probably Demint/Ryan. Hunter is great on the issues. However, he will have less name recognition now after his retirement and he will be four years older. Both of those two facts would hurt Duncan Hunters ability to win and losing in 2012 is not an option. For the sake of our country we have to win.
“I will always take the MOST CONSERVATIVE Republican candidate - never again for a RINO. If Hunter runs, then it would be him over anyone currently on the short list.”
If the GOP runs another squishy moderate like McCain, I won’t vote GOP whether a Palin or even Reagan is running with him.
I’ve had enough of this silly game of republicans pretending to be conservative. If they can’t follow their own platform, they need to keep losing.
No more Congressmen or Senators. No more.
The man has great principles but he campaigns as badly as Dole. He is not useful.

The media sidelined Duncan Hunter, but they’re going to tear Palin to shreds. By what they’ve done already, anyone should see that.
