I read of the optimism today of Democrats who predict a healthcare reform victory for America. Did we really elect people this ignorant? Or are they knowing accomplices in the attempted overthrow of our healthcare industry and taking a huge step into added control of every aspect of our lives?
As I pondered the above,... I imagined the words of Samuel Francis Smith...
I recalled how we used to sing it with such pride as children in a far better era, long passed:
My country, tis of thee,
Sweet land of Liberty,
Of thee, I sing!
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims pride,
From every mountainside let freedom ring!
As I let the song play in my head, it dawned on me: This, ladies and gentlemen, WAS America...

How many of us have faced the possibility that we can no longer say we are proud of our country?
I can’t stop crying.
Piss on me
...not...
Tis of thee
I can remember growing up, I constantly heard "we live in the greatest country, etc". Used to hear this a little in the 90s, and one time only in the 2000s.

I wish Medved would stop using the “greatest nation on God’s green earth” tagline. Its embarrassing. Closer to the truth would be this tagline: “The once greatest nation on God’s green earth - time to be great again.”
Obama’s father died in Kenya. And don’t get him started on Pilgrims. The Jerimiah Wright in him will flair up like his nostrils.
Justice has been replaced by Just Us. Witness current events.
“It is impossible to introduce into society a greater change and a greater evil than this: the conversion of the law into an instrument of plunder.” - The Law; Frederic Bastiat 1801-1850
I like that.
I am ashamed of Michelle.
My husband's brother and his wife built a fairly large home on 5 acres three years ago (financed partly with a gift from her parents), have very nice clothes, newer cars and new furniture throughout the house. Yet, they have been enrolled in WIC since conceiving their second child. It doesn't even cross their minds that this is other people's money. They are politically conservative and strong Christians, the mindset of people has changed. There is no pride in self-sufficiency, no shame in taking welfare.
