I think it may be a combo. Destroy the competition.

I also think it is beat up the biggest transplant auto manufacture to scare the other transplants with non-union factories (Nissan, Honda, BMW Hyndai, Mercedes, etc etc). Then the UAW thug try to force their way into the non-union factories or else - you get the Toyota treatment.

Obama, his Chicago goons, the UAW and other unions are so evil assited by their trail lawyer buddies.

My husband said there was something funny about that guy. You’re supposed to put the car in neutral.

I had a similar experience with a ‘78 Delta (it was 25+ years old at the time). Sometimes for no whatever reason the engine would start revving like mad while in neutral/park, or even just coming from a dead stop. I was always able to stop the car by slamming hard on the brakes.

If a rustbucket from 1978 could handle that, I can’t see how a Prius could not.

The whole reason the gov’t wanted a majority stake in GM, was so that they could bully the competition (i.e. possibly better cars) with impunity and drive them out of the market. After what I’ve seen, I won’t even consider buying a GM vehicle, until the gov’t sells off it’s ownership and allows the free market to be just that: free. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone on that point. I wonder if the gov’t thought about that first, or if they don’t even care. Are they going to prop up a failing car company forever, if no one buys the cars? Reminds me of Weekend at Bernie’s.

I have been smelling a big scam since these Prius stories...

I posted that the recent prius story sounded fishy the day it hit the press.

FYI

Someone should check for a deposit in his bank account (or purchases, payments), right before this.

I’d like to see a poll that asked whether the Prius incident was real or faked...

Here is my vote: FAKED!

What got me was the comment that the car eventually stopped when stepping on the brakes and applying the emergency brake at the same time.
Pressing the brake pedal actuates all 4 wheels. The emergency brake uses the same brake components only without use of the pedal. Applying both gives NO extra braking power over just the brake pedal.

I am not that familiar with the prius, but I do know it has a push button ignition in their ads.

As soon as I heard this story it made no sense to me.. actually a Prius doing 90 makes no sense but that’s another story.

Actually, that's not true in cars that have rear disk brakes. The rear brakes in my car are a combination of drums and disks. The brake pedal actuates the rear (and front) disks and the parking brake actuates the rear drums.

And I’m pretty sure that last was a case of non-Toyota aftermarket mats, and not official Toyota parts at fault.

“Mr. Sikes didn’t know that the Toyota Prius has a safety feature, when you press both the brake pedal and gas pedal to the floor, the engine shuts off... “

LOL!! So instead of Balloon Boy, we have Gas Pedal Guy.

Very true. However if the back drums are not adjusted optimally, partially engaging the emergency brake prior to pedal braking will enhance the stopping ability of the vehicle. So says my E-150 while grossly overloaded with tools.

Not only is 90 possible, but Al Gore's inconvenient son was busted for doing 100 in a Prius.

Unfortunately, not all Toyautos have this feature. But Toyauto is busy adding it to all their cars. Too bad safety wasn't a priority for them a few years ago.
