No. They've said some things about Obama's records that are on file in Hawaii, but not once have they said that Obama's alleged COLB is legit.
For example, heres a quote that Okubo gave to the Washington Independent last July:
Let's strip it down to what Okubo says instead of what the reporter paraphrases or concludes.
"Its crazy. I dont think anything is ever going to satisfy them."
This doesn't say the COLB is real. It's just whining.
"If you were born in Bali, for example, you could get a certificate from the state of Hawaii saying you were born in Bali. You could not get a certificate saying you were born in Honolulu. The state has to verify a fact like that for it to appear on the certificate. But its become very clear that it doesnt matter what I say. The people who are questioning this bring up all these implausible scenarios. What if the physician lied? What if the state lied? Its just become an urban legend at this point."
A little explanation about how certificates are supposed to work, but nothing that says Obama's COLB is genuine. In fact, she volunteers a weird question. "What if the state lied?" But she doesn't say the state didn't lie. Interesting. Perhaps a guilty conscience.
If Okubo was paraphrased or quoted incorrectly, in her position as Director of Communications, she is perfectly capable of issuing a press release or holding a press conference to correct any misstatements. She didn’t and she hasn’t.
When the St. Petersburg Times newspaper sent a copy of Obama’s COLB that they had received from the Obama campaign to Janice Okubo, here’s what happened: “When the birth certificate arrived from the Obama campaign it confirmed his name as the other documents already showed it. Still, we took an extra step: We e-mailed it to the Hawaii Department of Health, which maintains such records, to ask if it was real.
“It’s a valid Hawaii state birth certificate,” spokesman Janice Okubo told us.
