I usually avoid posting on this because of what some horrid Troll said to me in a thread. I have first hand experience of what the Organ Trade did to my family member. I was refused despite my request to see the CAT scan of the family member. When we decided to “donate organs” the Donor place took my family member after the “retrieval” of his organs, fraudulently out of the hospital by forging documents as to who they were, took him to their “place”, scavenged the rest of his body, and then took him to the funeral home. We were informed by the director what had occurred (he had seen it too many times and was suspicious of the Donor Group, he later filed an affidavit of the fraud that occurred with the court). This group committed fraud, desecration, and weren’t satisfied with the “organs” that we donated. They went on to refuse to return the remains, sold them at a “profit”, which then they were “resold” for $125,000 of “product”. During this entire year of hell of dealing with them, they gave us essentially “the finger” as there were NO LAWS to prevent them from what they had been doing for YEARS. They had, by law, “unlimited immunity”. I took care of what I could through a new law in my state which I essentially wrote. They (the group) went public in disparaging me, which essentially ruined my life at the time. Any positive that I had felt about donating my immediate relatives organs, was blown apart by the “criminality” (IMHO) and fraud of this group.

I have seen this from the nasty, illegal, undercurrent of the “Body Part” trade. I have told my family, that this group will never, ever, have access to my remains. AFter all the stress they cause me and the ruination of my life and reputation, my organs aren’t much good anyway, but these “criminals” will have nothing of mine.

My worries about them after the retrieval of the organs and what they might do to my relative’s body, was well founded and unfortunately turned out to be true.

When I was researching the laws about “bodies”, essentially the governing belief was that as a “courtesy” to families, the Gvt. has given a family the “courtesy” to determine what happens to their loved ones after death. Essentially, the Govt. legally has more “say” than families do and it’s only a “courtesy” that the families are given the “right” to specify. Families don’t “own” the body of their loved one. It’s a govt. courtesy.

I have removed myself from the donor list for similar reasons that you stated.

When parts are removed from a donor everyone from that point on makes money from the body parts. The hospital, the doctors, nurses, anesthetists, ambulance company, etc. Yet, they don't see fit to offer something to my survivors.

I know it seems selfish but when they start doing the operations for free I'll put my name back on the list.
