“The house didn’t have the votes for “The Senate” bill that’s why they want to make certain changes in reconciliation.”

I just like to add one thing to this. It is because of Jim DeMint objecting to the confrees list that the House has to pass the Senate bill as is. It has nearly killed it because nearly everyone hates that bill on the right and left, except for maybe Obama and a few select bribees. The only way they have a hope to get enough votes for it in the House is to promise to change it through reconciliation, which in itself is a gamble. If they lose the parlamentary challenges, or lose their nerve after the House has already passed it, it could end up on Obama’s desk unchanged.

I have seen no evidence for that rumor. On the other hand, I have previously posted actual news stories that say it was Reid's decision to skip reconciliation, because if you had a conference, it would certainly have changed the senate bill, and then they'd have to get 60 votes in the Senate again.

We WANTED a conference, and it was a violation of the normal process to avoid a conference. And there is no way for a minority senator to "object" to the conferees list and block a conference.

I don't know where this rumor started.

DeMint also said two important things tonight on GVS.

1) it will have to pass a number of 60 vote procedural hurdles.

2) he is the first major GOP head I have heard promise a campaign to run on repeal of all this
