It was created specifically as a counter to the Tea Party movement. Where the TP is anti-tax, the CP is pro-tax (often repeating that chestnut from O.W. Holmes... “I like paying taxes, it buys civilization”.

Also the TP is about power to the individual, and CP is about power to the collective.
