The deal was sealed when voters receiving a check from the government for doing nothing out numbered the ones paying the bills. This economic downturn combined with unsecured debt and underwater mortgages and reckless massive spending by the government is the perfect storm; unlike any time in history. I think the financial downfall of America will be accelerated because of the scope of our reach and the size of our debt. If the government continues to try to deflect blame by pitting one segment of the population against the other, well I only see one outcome. When the free money stops flowing there will be rioting in the cities and it will spread. I wish I could see a way out of this, but I think we are past the point of no return. Hopefully I am just completely wrong.
I fear sir that you are most correct. I intend to purchase a farm in the countryside with the intent to provide a sanctuary for my family and close friends to ride this economic storm out. We will grow our on food and hopefully build a community with people in the area to defend our land.
Hopefully, but probably not likely. The majority opinion of everything I'm reading and listening to says the only way the government will get out from under this level of debt is to inflate its way out of it, which will likely ultimately lead to hyperinflation since governments in the past have unintentionally overplayed their intended actions.
