Check out following usage of the verb "sink" from the article (shouldn't it be "he sank in the polls")...

he sunk in the polls

Given that VDH is one of the most educated humans on the planet, I cannot imagine he would make such an error...is this some obscure British usage or what?

Anyone? Help!!!

You are correct, but like the slang word “snuck”, it should be a legal word.
