Last night the House Ethics Committee publicly admonished Charlie Rangel, the House Ways and Means Committee Charmian for participating in junkets to the Caribbean sponsored by corporations and lobbyists and violating house rules by letting corporations pay for his Caribbean trips.
One of the sponsors of the Junkets in question was Citigroup -- a banking giant whose employees and political action committee, when taken together, represent his most generous campaign donor during the past two decades. Also Opensecrets.com reports that Rangel ranks among the top all-time congressional and presidential beneficiaries of Citigroup's political donations.
Rangel on the other hand, claims that that the ethics report "exonerates" him because it says there is no evidence that he knew the trips were sponsored by corporations it was all his staff's fault. Rangel claimed that his staff didn't tell him that the Junkets were sponsored by his biggest donor. The ethics report said his staff knew who paid for the trips but they couldn't prove that Rangel knew.

So who did Rangel think was paying for the trip?
Pelosi is in a pickle..she has to keep the Black Caucus happy..BTW..Rangel has a primary challenger this time...have you seen/heard anything about it?
Yeah, all he had to do was the ask the question, right?

THE RANGEL SWINDLE
(1) Took a “homestead” tax deduction meant for year-round DC residents - though he legally resides in New York.
(2) Rangel paid no taxes on his luxe property in the Caribbean;
(3) Has four rent-stabilized apartments (one is a campaign office);
(4) Improperly stored his car in a House parking garage;
(5) The NY Times reported oil-drilling businessman Eugene Isenberg made a $1 million pledge toward building The Rangel School for Public Service at City College of New York. Rangel later preserved a controversial offshore tax loophole that saved millions for Isenberg’s company. The Isenberg-Nabors deal is, potentially, far more serious: It reeks of a quid pro quo between Rangel’s official duties and fund-raising for his personal project. The Times reported that Rangel held meetings the same day, at the same hotel, with Isenberg to discuss the CCNY project and then with Nabors’ chief lobbyist on the tax loophole.
(6) Took free trips sponsored by corporate lobbyists.
(7) Can Rangel prove where he spent $2 million from Congressional allocations, plus another $700,000 from the Dept of HUD) that went to the tax-exempt Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service?

This “admonishment” by the ethics committee only covers #6. What’s up with the other half dozen “problems”?
NYC and Albany are beginning to be run like a banana republic!
Rush intimated on his show this morning that the two dems from the south who are proposing Rangel be removed from chairmanship, might be displaying some racism—leave it to Rush!
He's a lib.
That question doesn't even fit inside their heads.
He's a lib.
Questins like that don't even fit inside their heads.
He should be in prison. He is a criminal.
