Senate Republicans have a counter attack ready if, despite the president's allegedly bipartisan summit, Democrats try to pass Obamacare via mis-use of the reconciliation process. While that process requires only a simple majority to pass a bill and limits debate time, it does not limit the number or content of proposed amendments to a reconciliation bill and Republicans could offer hundreds of them, forcing Democrats to vote on each one.
On the surface this may seem like a bad idea - just postponing the inevitable and annoying the American people with a display of the meaningless gamesmanship that all too often plays out in Congress. But the display will not necessarily be meaningless as many of the amendments will force Democrats to publicly vote on such politically poisonous subjects as Guantanamo Bay and terror trials.

Good. We need some kind of plan to defeat this thing.
Not at all! Why should Repubs give a flying crap about what the socialist demoRAT pigs or 0bozo the kenyan commie pig or the leftwing marxist media says about this? I hope that Repubs don't lose their cahones after a few days and end up capitulating on this. I hope they would carry this through up to the Nov 2, 2010 election & beyond if necessary.
I like it. Party of No, I’m proud to wear it too. Maybe a nice tshirt slogan for the next Fourth of July.
The public isn’t upset that nothing is getting done, they are upset at what they are trying to do.
I think it’s a great idea, but I don’t for a second think that those milquetoast, pantywaist, girleymen RINOs have the cojones to actually go through with this.
The Republicans should take “unlimited amendments” at face value and offer an “amendment avalanche” to block this turkey until after the election.
my Amendment:
ALL future “cost over-runs” in this program SHALL be Fully funded by reductions is the Government Junketing budgets or with targeted taxes on Congressional and Senatorial Pensions & Benefits. OR BOTH!
And force them to read each of the amendments in session in their entirety.
Rinse and repeat 100 times. Til they give up.
Make it the “Party of No Socialiasm”.
The Senate Bill would still have be voted on the House and it won’t pass.
