I remember a court case several years ago where a woman was prosecuted by the feds for being in possession of an American eagle feather she picked up off the ground in a national park. I remember the case, because I was totally shocked by it. She did some minor jail time. I’m sure she was totally ignorant and innocent of the “crime.” No intent to commit a crime there, but she paid for it anyway.

These people don’t realize that they are skating on very thin ice. However, due to the publicity about the case, maybe they’ll get away without too much damage and their reputations intact — after all, they only have their students’ best interests at heart, right?

I hope this principal gets her story straight and has good legal representation if she decides to be questioned by the feds. Martha Stewart didn’t go to jail for insider trading. If I remember correctly, she went to jail for lying to the FBI.
