One more case of pay no attention to what Obozo says, watch his hands.
We are totally broke. No more make work for science majors. Pay the debt down. Reduce all government expenses 20% and save this nation.
Cut the Global Warming departments first.
Always recall the statement, “Death by 10,000 cuts”. Each cut in itself is meaningless, but when taken together will bleed you to death. That is our current budget situation.
The nations that lead on the frontiers dictate the course of human history. You don't abandon that anymore then you abandon on your kid's college fund! Unless you think your kid working Mcdonalds forever is a good thing.
Same for our nation. NASA human spaceflight is the guarantee America continues to have a future that is one of leading the course of human history, not letting other nations dictate to us.
It's chump change too.....

So that fiscal argument against it is total BUNK, and it's investment, it PAYS off big time. Technology, prestige, inspiration of children, and again... we remain a dominative force in how human history unfolds.
The trollish sniping by some here is easily smacked down on such things by the above.
From the article....
"As President Obama's standing in the polls continue to slide, his ability to influence events continue to diminish. Obama's attempt to shut down the Constellation space exploration program has met with an almost universally hostile reception in Congress. If the administration compounds that by arrogantly trying to ignore the will of Congress, then things will get ugly. What kind of space program emerges at the other end of that ugliness is difficult to predict."
Obama is NOT guaranteed of getting his way!
FIGHT! here is how....

Here is just a small list of who stands with us!....

And I am certain also. This man would stand with us too..
"Nowhere is this more important than our next frontier: space. Nowhere do we so effectively demonstrate our technological leadership and ability to make life better on Earth. The Space Age is barely a quarter of a century old. But already we've pushed civilization forward with our advances in science and technology. Opportunities and jobs will multiply as we cross new thresholds of knowledge and reach deeper into the unknown.
Our progress in space, taking giant steps for all mankind, is a tribute to American teamwork and excellence. Our finest minds in government, industry and academia have all pulled together. And we can be proud to say: We are first; we are the best; and we are so because we're free. "America has always been greatest when we dared to be great. We can reach for greatness again. We can follow our dreams to distant stars, living and working in space for peaceful, economic, and scientific gain." -Ronald Wilson Reagan
