I know nothing about the birth certificate. But when someone got their primary education (first through fourth grade) in a non-English speaking country, I cut him a little slack on pronounciation.

Obama has occasion to use the word corps in relation to groups other than the Marines.
Does he pronounce press corps correctly? Does he pronounce Peace Corps correctly?
If he does, then he's creating a deliberate affront to the Marine Corps.

I believe he did this purposely to get his digs in at the hated military.
