"Other than the Houston livestock and Rodeo the city is a waste of land."

Nonsense. We have the coast, boating, sailing and beaches. Don't make me whoop ya one!

You also have a lesbian mayor in Houston pushing a socialist agenda worthy of San Fransico.

Ditto on having to see yer voting record, pardnah!

As far as Houston only having the Livestock Show, well, that just isn’t true. I’m a native from West Texas, but got to Houston as fast as I could - via Dallas. Houston was just coming off it’s boom town status (where lots of folk in your same situation had moved here from “up North”). In spite of the downturn in the economy, at the time, Houston came back stronger than ever...better diversified and, IMOH, better solutions to general living issues (road construction, crime, etc.) I’d take Houston over Dallas in a heartbeat. To me Houston exemplifies the true American dream...with hard work and determination anyone can make it here. I saw Dallas as more clannish.

Get your start in Houston, Austin or San Antonio (although SA is not doing as well as Houston, economically). You can’t go wrong. And besides that...our skies are blue and our people are friendly.

Good luck!

And I’ll help with the whoopin’. The suburbs of Houston are great - Friendswood, Clear Lake, Pearland on the south, Katy on the west. Quick trip to the beach and the bayou for kayaking and deep sea fishing, lots of biking areas. Easy drive to NOLA or to the Hill Country. Taxes are low and you can get a whole lot for your money. And there are jobs - not as many as there used to be though. Dallas, IMO,is not real Texas so don’t go there. New Braunsfels is a hopping area - at least on the weekends as is Austin and probably a better fit for mid-20’s.

Great points! We do have close beaches. Just west of Houston is not bad. You can get on I-10 and travel from coast to coast. Granted by August we are praying for rain and cooler temps. but life is good!
