Re rebuilding in Galveston. It’s slow and spotty. Strand is pretty much up and running and the road is now all there from Galveston south with no huge sinkholes remaining. You don’t really notice how much is gone if you weren’t here a lot before but to frequent visitors it is pretty sad. Lots of areas just totally vacant and some third tier homes are now first tier. Also some of the areas which have been rebuilt by out-of-towners are such wild un-Galveston colors - like they had a sale on 150 different kinds of paint but only one can of each was available. Has always been and will always be a battle over old and new money and no agreement on exactly what Galveston should be and how it should look. But we still love it and go every week.

That was interesting and funny. I hope the island comes back all the way. No big hissy fits like New Orleans either.
