Regarding the San Antonio area and the Arlington area could you name the best reasons one might move to these places? No better than you could using the same search criteria.
I know some folks in both areas but me, I've never lived in either. Texas is big.
Texas has an acceptable tax structure and gun laws I can live with.
I'm biased, I have an ancestral stake in the place.
I've pinged a few trusted folks who will have better region-specific views on Texas.
Hey, y'all.. who lives in San Antonio? We had an event there once..

I told one my supervisors (he's orig from south of Arlington) I believe I'd enjoy living in TX. He's always has mostly negative comments - the hot weather, no trees, and some type of bug that swarms across the state every summer.
The corp I work for has a facility near Arlington, and there is, I was told, a related-to-our-industry facility near SA.
And I'm still planning on being in SA this April while the Fiesta is on.

Traffic, yuk.
I live way south of Arlington, about 2 hours SE of SA, in a small town close to the coast. We don’t have traffic. :)
Have family and friends all around DFW area that deal with it without much problem. 80 year old aunt and uncle that live in Plano deal with it just fine.
I’ll stay down here and just go visit every once in a while. :)
