What happens is many of the people who become scientists do so because they have an inflated self ego of how smart and important they are.

But after a decade or so they come to realize that their career can more accurately be described as Zoo Keeper because of all the many thousands of rat droppings they had to clean up.

The scientists then become very bitter and take a hateful view of the world and everyone in it so they just start inventing stuff up to make themselves look and feel important.

Scientists have always been like that going back to Darwin and continuing to setmcell research and so called climate change.
