An update says federal officials are claiming the SUV involved was a State Department security vehicle, not the Secret Service.

Yet another update seems to indicate that a contract security officer for the State Department was driving the SUV that hit Mr Treacher.

The driver apparently perjured himself by claiming that Treacher was jaywalking and that the accident occurred several blocks away in the middle of a street. (Treacher was issued a jaywalking ticket at his hospital bed on the driver's complaint).

The ambulance report and that of eyewitnesses contradicts the driver's claims. There is probably a security camera video of the incident as well.

I wonder why the State Department is trying to back the account of the SUV driver.
