Mislead (Again) On Cap And Trade

Carbon Cap And Trade. The talk is always about the political point of view. We are told that coal fired power plants are the largest emitters of Carbon Dioxide. If there is a correct understanding of the way those coal fired power plants produce their electrical power, and the way that consumers use that power, then it becomes obvious that Cap And Trade is only in place as a revenue raiser, and can not actually lower Carbon Dioxide Emissions. A new Tax cannot lower emissions of itself.

No, the headline writer is telling to go out and lie to people about kneecap-and-tax.

I got the joke, and in fact as I wrote it, that was the first thing I thought of. I’m from Australia, and even though the post is at a U.S. blog, I decided to go with that spelling of the word. Our Australian Dictionary has that spelling as I wrote it, and also that the other spelling can also be used, but the main word has the ‘ea’, so after debating which to use, I still went with this word. Incidentally, the word ‘misled’ has a separate meaning here in Oz. It is a euphemistic meaning for ‘It rained lightly’, and pronounced with a soft ‘s’ and in the same sort of pronunciation as for the word ‘fizzled’, hence ‘It misled all day’, meaning it rained lightly all day.
Nothing whatsoever to do with Cap and Trade, the main thrust of the post.
