Regardless of any of that, if McCain opposed the bailouts in September-October of 2008, he’d be the president and we’d be recovering. That Obama capitalized on the economic collapse should not surprise us. That the GOP read from Keynes’ manual — and probably continues to do so — is a good reason not to trust anyone in the punditry class or in the political class.
