Wellllllllllll
DOH!
Sigh.
From the economy to Iran to further airline attacks, I feel like the whole country is just waiting for another shoe-bomber to drop.
The most catastrophic example in our history of how careerism can lead to catastrophe is probably the early stages of the Korean War. The army used to send regimental and divisional commanders to Japan for occupation duty as their last tour before retirement. Life was easy, living was good and after a year or so they got to retire with a pension and a nice shiny star to show off at the country club. But when war came many of them broke down physically or emotionally.
Now we’re sending superannuated federal LEOs to a nice warm place like Florida to round out their careers...
In the course of the Korean War the army was able to recover. But a lot of good men died of incompetent leadership and poor training in the meantime. In the event of a terrorist attack there will be no time to recover.
Naw - push on! Scan more geriatrics - especially the sneaky ones who pretend to need canes and wheelchairs! And ramp up the pressure on people who bring an extra ounce of hair conditioner, or (gasp) nail files! Muslims will break under that level of pressure, I tellya.
Good post. Of course the system is vulnerable. The Teleprompter in Chief and his cadre of radicals are paying lip service to homeland security. A corollary to “don’t let a crisis go to waste” is “don’t avoid letting a crisis happen.” Their end game is marshal law and tyranny.
Sure it COULD happen. But it WON’T come from the air via a commercial airliner.
Yes, these muzzie morons COULD get a device thru the TSA Barney Fife crews and blow up another aircraft but any attempt to take control of the aircraft for use as a missle against a ground structure would fail. Any future efforts to storm a cockpit would almost certainly result in the beating death of the perp. as post 911 passengers fully understand that THEY HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE.
Personally, I’m far more worried about the uninspected 60 t0 70% of the air cargo that travels in these aircraft. A fairly simple barometric pressure device could kill a lot of folks with no risk to the bad guys.
And, no, I haven’t given them any ideas they haven’t already explored and, for all we know, tried and had interrupted.
The key is humanintel and — horrors — PROFILING.
