“By the time the federal gov’t has the power to declare gun ownership a threat to your health (and thus ban them), it will be too late to stop.”

I disagree. When that happens it won’t be too late to stop, it will, rather, be the end of the government that tries to enforce it.

1) Kirk is a major RINO. He is philosophically no different than the worst of the dems. Doubt me if you must, but time will prove it out. A vote for him will end up strengthening the socialism you so rightly fear.

2) The reason the life issue must remain in the forefront of this debate is that it is the most valuable tool we have in the fight against Marxism. We have been manipulated by a false sense of urgency into repeatedly electing people who promised to help us with our short term political crisis. And time after time we have come away disappointed by those short term, high pressure “purchases,” if you will. Think used car sales tactics.

The solution is to properly identify a true conservative, one that will remain faithful to the Constitution come h3ll or high water, or both. How do we do that? Look at a person's core values. If they can be OK with sucking the brains out of a baby (and Mark Kirk is OK with that), one a mere technicality, what makes you think they will value your life any more highly, push come to shove? No. We must stand on this, that the respect for life is NOT negotiable, precisely because it is the deep spring out of which all other genuine rights flow. Stop it up, and the lesser rights, freedom, property, or whatever else a living person may treasure as a right, trickle down to nothing and die. Stand for the unborn babies, or prepare to see it all come to nothing, this magnificent Republic we have built, which we love and seek to recover. It will all come to nothing if we close our ears to their silent anguish.

By the time the federal gov’t has the power to declare gun ownership a threat to your health (and thus ban them), it will be too late to stop. It needs to stop now, and the NRA needs to be wise. Who is wise? He who can see something BEFORE it is born.

Keep in mind that the NRA's rating system EXCLUSIVELY covers the candidate's stance towards guns. It does not attempt to rate candidates on their conservatism. They are the National RIFLE Association, not the National Conservative Association.

Which is PRECISELY why you won’t see another gun ban called a gun ban.

The Democrats are like the terrorists... they assess our security and attack where we aren’t looking. If the NRA turns their head on every bill that isn’t called “HR100: Bill to Ban Guns”, then they will lose the war.

The NRA was blindsided by the move to get corporations to ban guns on company property in private vehicles. I don’t know how that went down, but they missed it, and had to battle after the fact. When a provision in a “safe schools bill” mandates that no guns can be found within 5 miles of a public school, will you tell me that it’s okay Ben Nelson supports it because it’s not a “gun bill”?

By the way, GOA is sensitive to these things, and will call out any bill that could ever be misconstrued in any way to limit gun rights.

"NRA is totally and completely irrelevant."

I agree. The gave John Murtha an A+, which is why I'm no longer a member.

Murtha is an ex-Marine. And at one time was for our servicemen/women before he was against them. Let me remind you that the NRA is a gun rights, 2nd amendment group!

Well, you gotone thing right -- John al-Murthawi is an EX Marine!

Please provide a source for your claim that he was at one time "for" our military.

I hope they don’t back Halvorsen again (provided the Republican is also pro-gun). Her first vote was for Pelosi. Her second vote for rat rules that installed an anti-2A majority on the Judiciary Committee headed by leftwing relic John Conyers.

JAB, you missed the irony in my comment. He was for/before he was against was a reference to the very French looking Senator Kerry who served in Viet Nam and is now ready for duty. Who threw, not his medals but those of another serviceman’s over the fence of the White House back in the day.

The same SOB that visited France to negotiate with the Viet Cong during the war on how THEY could win. I wonder what passport he used, maybe he passed it off to one BHO?

I vote single issue. I vote gun rights. Health care, abortion, govt. spending, etc,etc are very important. But not as important as the right to defend one’s self against tyranny and slavery.

Just a suggestion, you may want to broaden your focus. I agree with you that a militia maned by people like us might be the last resort to save us. Let’s work toward doing all we can to prevent that from coming to pass.

You got that right, people need to get on Bill Cunningham tonight, Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Lars Larson and get across to folks in Illinois that Mark Kirk is a social left winger and no fiscal conservative.

He voted for Prescription Drug entitlement, Bailouts, Cap & Tax, a Federal Budget that went from 1.9T to 3T in 8 years, etc.
