I attended public schools. The experience messed me up big time. I’m far from the only person who can say that.

“...it’s not a Bolshevik plot!”

Of course it isn’t. How silly of us to suspect him of advocating the fundamentals of a hard-left ideology.

We need to counteract their influence as much as possible. In order to do this, we (and our children) have to be there
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Children should never be used as political or religious missionaries. I call it child abuse.

Also...I suspect that the same statistics apply to political conversion as to religious conversion. Of those children ( from highly committed and active Christian families), who attend government school, only 85% are active in their faith 2 years after graduation. Among homeschoolers 95% are active in their faith. I would expect that the same would apply to political beliefs as well.

If we want to defend our culture and faith we need to rear our children in an environment that totally supports those values. That is our best defense against the Marxists ( aka “Progressives”).

We must work to get as many children out of the government indoctrination camps as possible.

I have no problem with home schooling but, as a Christian and for the sake of those children who go to government schools, we must fight to get the government out of the schools.

How is it possible to get government out of the government schools when they are owned and run by the government?

The best solution is to get the kids out of the government schools.

Unfortunately, too few conservatives understand the threat of government schooling to our nation. They fail to realize that government schools are socialism and that socialism can not be reformed. And...Many defend the government schools because they or members of their family work for or receive indirect income from the government schools.

One of the reasons we do not have universal tuition=free Christian education is that their are too many government school employees sitting in the pews. Few ministers will bite the hand that puts money in the collection plate.

“Children should never be used as political or religious missionaries. I call it child abuse.”

Yet you would bury your head in the sand and allow all those other children to be *abused* by Obama and the Porogressives?

This is my point.

We shouldn’t be surprised. He is doubling down. He has a lot to do before he loses control this fall and gets kicked out in 2012. They didn’t come this close, only to lose it all without a fight. A fight they will get, they can count on that from non-Marxists.
After all, he did say the the other day that student loans would be forgiven if the students decided to work for the (his) government! I am shocked that people weren’t all over that statement.

I don't know about where you live but, here in Texas (at least away from the major urban centers) the teacher and their curriculum are more conservative/religion based than elsewhere in the country.

Even read a story today about how much of what goes into Texas schoolbooks effect the rest of the country.

People here and I assume in other redder states are trying to take government out of schools. To not do so would be abuse.

Yes, agree with the posts, Scary Stuff!

From the aritcle: "“Organizing for America, the successor organization to Obama for America, is building on the movement that elected President Obama by empowering students across the country to help us bring about our agenda” and "[W]e are concerned with how to create mass organizations to seize power … We are talking about a mass power organization which will change the world…This means revolution.”

This stuff is right out of the Red Book of Mao.

"He who controls the youth owns the future", Adolph Hitler

Hey Obama, Leave our Kids Alone!

THIS FR thread says:

"Chuck, a reader of my website AtlasShrugs.com, has a daughter in the eleventh grade in a public high school, Perry Local in Massillon, Ohio. The teacher in her government class passed out a propaganda recruiting paper – headed with Obama’s distinctive “O” logo — asking students to sign up as interns for Organizing for America. You can see the entire intern recruiting form at (AtlasShrugs.com.)"

Before I jump to any big conclusions about this, I'd need to know if this was a loose canon teacher or part of a larger strategy. It does not give the appearance of being a larger strategy, does it?

“Homeschooling tends to make the student/family out of touch with the mainstream.”

The mainstream elected Obama, Pelosi, et al. Given the choice, I’ll stay “out of touch” and capable of cutting through the propaganda, as will any children I raise.

Besides, the more conservatives support federally-run public education, the more tax money goes into the Left’s coffers. Surely you don’t want that.

See post #69

Texas turned down recent federal education dollars because of the attached strings. I suggest your state do the same.

Wow, thanks for the link. Didn't know all those details about Mao. Makes you want to cringe. . . It can't happen here? . .

I personally think we are seeing a softer form of the same template.
