the man should be lauded not ridiculed for keeping his team in the game and into overtime.
Throwing interceptions is the opposite of keeping your team in the game. It is giving the game away.
Brett Favre has thrown more picks than anyone else in the history of the NFL, and last night he clinched the distinction of having thrown more interceptions in the playoffs than anyone else in NFL history.

I didn’t see the fumble. That was AP’s fault.

Brett got hammered unmercifully three or four times by the Saints defense. How he got up and on his feet was a mystery to me.

Right - including the name of the subject of the article. If a writer can’t get that much right, he shouldn’t be writing it. And his editor has no bragging rights, either.

I am a long-time Packers fan and was a BF fan while he played in Lambeau but as soon as he donned a Jets, then Vikings uniform he stopped being a Packer and I stopped being a Farve fan.
While he showed some real magic in his Packers days, there was always that feeling of dread when he had to start throwing the ball around to win a game...you could just feel the interceptions coming.
I don't care if he plays another year or not, that's his business, me, I'll take a little time off and about April I will start watching the Packer boards again and get ready for a new season of Packer football.

sorry, i don’t think he should come back. he looked kinda tired last night in the FIRST quarter and then still took one of the worst beatings on a quarterback that i personally can remember. the next thing for him probably would be permanent damage and walking around shaking all the time like ali. not a good thing at all. i think he is extremely fearless. he should retire now for sure.

He’s one of the greatest to ever play the game. He had a bad night last night.
Should he retire? That depends on whether or not the bad night was as a result of age or as a result of a much better opposing team.
I’m inclined to think it was both. . .

If the internet has done one thing it is to have spawned an endless army of wannabe athlete arm-chair quarterbacks and no-nothing experts on every sport imaginable or athlete imaginable. This phenomena is not limited to sports. The internet has bred this behavior on virtually every field out there.

after the beating he took last night (not to mention the turnovers in the red zone by his runners and receivers) the man should be lauded not ridiculed for keeping his team in the game and into overtime. Here, here!
Peterson fumbles inside the 10, Berrian fumbles inside the 10 and Harvin gives one away that put the Saints inside the Viking 10. Favre was getting pummeled. A lot of people think Favre should have run the ball on the last Viking play but Vilma was in position to make that run probably about 3 yards at best. If Favre committed, Vilma would have clobbered him and the FG attempt would still be more than 50 yds.
We can go on and on about the officiating in overtime but bottom line is the Vikings loss was a team loss and Favre threw a lot of very good passes.

Sports journalists are such a joke. What a sorry profession. The scum in Boston made Ted Williams life miserable and he hated them.
Hate or love Brett - the guy can still play football. He and Kurt Warner are amazing.

so then is that the only record he holds then? when one throws more passes than anyone else, plays more games than anyone else and has more touchdowns that anyone else then they probably have more interceptions that anyone else as well.

Lighten up Francis - Brett is for real. I knew coming into that game that either team could win. Too bad the better team will not be going to the Super Bowl. As badly as the Vikes played (turnovers) they clearly bested the NO defense and handled the offense. Unfortunately, we will be treated to a very lopsided SB with the Colts owning the Saints by half time. I have been a long time supporter of NO since they started, but the reality is they got lucky last night, not that they won last night. Remember, the Redskins, with half an offensive line, put the Saints into overtime and lost by a field goal. Last I looked, the Redskins finished on the bottom of the NFC East. It looks like the AFC will win the SB.

Certainly wasn't his fault that there were 12 men in the huddle when they were but a kick away from going ahead. He saw the problem and was signaling frantically for a time out when the flag was thrown.
Actually Favre should forever thank the refs for not acknowledging his timeout request. The Vikes were operating off a timeout they just called, and it is a 15 yard penalty to call another back to back. It would have went down as one of the all time boners in NFL history, courtesy of Brett Favre.
To: skimbell
So then, Favre didn't have two interceptions and a fumble last night?Despite that, Favre did something this year that 28 other quarterbacks in the NFL couldn't do, and that is to take his team to a Conference Championship game.
To: skimbell
Please tell us your NFL record in Championship games?
To: lonster
Brett is strong and fearless but I don’t think his ego will let him go out this way.
Lets say he decides to retire, does he get picked up by GB and retire as a Packer or go out as a Viking?
What would Pac fans think/say?

It looks like the AFC will win the SB. If so that's bad, very bad for the stock market. The Super Bowl indicator states that if the AFC wins, the market is down for the year.
