“I don’t think it is particularly ‘special’ for a politician to scratch another politician’s back because of a previous favor - it’s done all the time. It’s called “politics as usual”.”

Oh, yea? True “politicians” never scratch someone’s back without expecting something in return. Tell me...exactly what is Sarah Palin going to get from this old guy? Nothing. She will be condemned by some self appointed conservative arbiters who line up, as usual, in a circular firing squad. Sarah Palin is the most charismatic conservative to come along in a generation, since Reagan. Reagan was viciously attacked by so-called conservative icons like Paul Weyrich, Richard Viguerie and others for being a closet leftist. If you doubt this, take a look at the link below, which gives chapter and verse:

You don’t like Palin’s endorsement of McCain. If that is all it takes for you to take your marbles and go home, then begone. You can join the ranks fo the irrelevant along with Viguerie (who now talks about Reagan as an icon, saying that Sarah Palin is the next Reagan....LOL). I tried to find Reagan’s diary passage where he says just what he thought about people like Viguerie, who always thought he wasn’t pure enough, but I don’t have time. It is worth looking up, if you are interested).

If, on the other hand, you are willing to acknowledge that her motives in endorsing McCain are not corrupt, although you disagree with her decision to do so, you may be able to reevaluate your conclusions about her.

“She started out of the gate just fine, but has hit a rough patch now.”

LOL. Some rough patch. She is the overwhelming frontrunner for the GOP nomination and she will likely be the 45th President of the United States. If you think her endorsement of McCain is going to matter, I have just two words for you: Richard Schweiker. In 1980, how much of an impediment was it when Reagan pre-selected in 1976 (as his running mate had he defeated Ford) Richard Schweiker, liberal Republican Senator from Pennsylvania (ACU rating: 9 out of 100)? (Viguerie, et al condemned him and pronounced his political obituary). In case you don’t remember, he won 44 states and booted out the first elected incumbent President in 50 years.

I never said her motives were corrupt - I said her loyalty to him is misplaced. There is a big difference. You are correct - she will never get anything from Juan McAmnesty. He will use her & throw her to the dogs when it suits his purposes.

Hayworth is going to need all the help he can get to beat McCain - how is Sarah supporting his opposition going to help a conservative get elected? Everyone says they will vote for Hayworth, but still support Sarah in 2012. I may still support her then, but no one can convince me that she just might gain some votes for the old creep that she could have sent Hayworth's way.

We finally have a small chance to unseat this man - who has stabbed us in the back so many times - and our number one conservative gal is not onboard with it. That blows my mind.

I don't think saying "what Reagan would be doing" is appropriate in this situation. Times are vastly different now. Obama has changed all the rules. This ain't our parent's politics anymore. Conservatives had better get that through their heads if they truly want to defeat these liberals. They play dirty to win - we've got to play smarter.
