You were saying ...

McCain didn’t lose because some conservatives didn’t like him and stayed home. The few hundred thousand people who actually know that McCain is a loon unfit for the senate, much less the presidency, didn’t swing anything.

That's not what some other FReepers I've been reading have said... :-)

I guess it would be your word against theirs, then... but that's usual around here on Free Republic... a long list (in threads) of "he said" -- "she said"... LOL... and so on and so forth...

McCain lost because if your choice is between two pontificating hacks who don’t say much different pick the younger, more historic one. Obama beat McCain the same way he beat HRC. Sound the same - be prettier.

Just more of the "he said" -- "she said" type of dialogue going on here... not too much changes over the years here...

I'm not interested in “he said/ she said”.

Obama won by 9.5 million votes.

There were less than 2 million third party votes.

The ten people that told you they sat home last election doesn't make up for the 7.5 million vote gap even assuming McCain had gotten every single third party vote. The people who didn't vote weren't going to vote no matter who was on the ballot.

Math is not “he said/ she said”. Someone explain to me who these mysterious 7.5 million voters are that are so involved in politics that they had a conscientious objection to voting for McCain and Obama and yet stayed home and didn't vote for anyone.

Politics are dependent on human behavior. Behavior of an individual can not be predicted with much accuracy. Behavior of millions of people can be predicted very accurately. How do you thing congress, which normally had approval ratings in the 20's, gets incumbents reelected at such an overwhelming rate? They hire experts that can predict human behavior. It's science, not hearsay.
