I must admit, Texas politics is an absolute mystery to me. I don’t see Kay Baily Hutchison as any great leader, intellect or conservative. She’s just barely an adequate Senator, and reliable vote. Maybe Perry has his problems - I don’t know - but what would inspire Hutchison, who is a little long in the tooth, to want to get into such a contested race when she could stroll to reelection in the Senate?
She doesn’t think Perry should serve three terms.

Not sure why anyone thinks they need to stay in elective office for most of their life. But between King Ricky and Queen Kay that’s what we have. She wanted to run for governor in 06 but the powers that be in the party [whomever they are] convinced her to hang back and let King Ricky have another term and then he’d not run again. Well he’s running and all I can say is I guess she wants to come back to Texas. If she wins maybe we’ll get rid of both of them, King Ricky first and Queen Kay after her four years as Gov.
After Giving Fall Time Frame For Senate Resignation, Senior Senator Changes Mind Yet Again
TYLERHank Gilbert, Democratic Candidate for Texas Governor, Tuesday afternoon expressed little shock that U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison once again broke a promise to Texans.
First she said she would resign in October or November. Now, she is saying she doesnt know when or if she will resign. Texas voters could get more trustworthy answers from a Magic Eight Ball than from Senator Hutchison, Gilbert said.
Gilbert also pointed out this wasnt the first promise Hutchison had broken to Texas voters, and that it probably wont be her last. Gilbert noted that Hutchison, when first elected to the United States Senate in 1993, promised to only serve two terms. Hutchison is presently in her third term in the U.S. Senate.
First she said shed serve two terms and leave the Senate. Now she is going back on her word about resigning. Is there any promise Kay Bailey Hutchison wont break for the sake of personal convenience, Gilbert asked.
In my experience, your word should be your bond. Evidently Senator Hutchison has been in Washington so long that she doesnt remember that a Texans word is a Texans bond, Gilbert said.
