Brown strategist: national security the sleeper issue of the campaign

NRO's Robert Costa interviewed Scott Brown strategist Eric Fernstrom who revealed something from their internal polls which no pundit to my knowledge has observed.

The key issue for Massachusetts voters was not healthcare or spending. It was national security and the treatment of enemy terrorists. If the White House polls bear this out, Eric Holder's decisions on trying the terrorists in civilian courts and the botched handling of the Christmas underwear bomber should mean a shake up in the Department of Justice and Homeland Security.

Is there room under the bus for Holder and Napolitano?

Neither of these people should have ever been on the bus to begin with.

The Obama camp does not care that they are putting America in greater danger with their handpicked unqualified cabinet members and other appointees. The Marxist President and those who advise him do not care if they lose a few of their agenda items and are pressured to fire a few - as long as they do win some of their Marxist agenda items. That pushes America further along the path of capitalism’s destruction. When people start understanding how the Marxists operate, they will stop lecturing the President and waiting for the Marxists to do what’s right for America, because doing right by America is simply not their goal.

It certainly is an underreported aspect to the Scott Heard 'Round The World story but not to the exclusion of the other factors. I think Fruit of the Boom was the crystallizing event. It woke up everyone up. It was the little kid who shouted "the emperor has no clothes" and once the crowd was paying attention, things like the Schilling gaffe stood out in stark relief.
