A CROWDED RACE FOR GOVERNOR, BUT ONLY ONE BIG "R" CANDIDATE

“Our history is filled with people who won by standing on their beliefs and principles,” say Medina, who cites Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan as the type of Republicans that best personify her own beliefs and the ideals for which she is fighting.

Medina, the former Head of the Wharton County Republican party, believes that somewhere along the line we, as a people, have turned to following personalities rather than ideals. Medina dealt with this issue over five years ago when members of the Wharton County Republican Party Executive Committee began to display apathy. Medina said then, “Our loyalty is not to a collection of people or personalities.”

“I am a Republican because of an allegiance to a set of ideals,” says Medina. “We’ve got to be better at judging people by the fruit of their lives, rather than the rhetoric of their words. My walk matches the talk. It’s important that our walk be consistent with our talk.”

The word RINO has been overused..

I agree, and most of that overuse has occurred right here on Free Republic. There's this certain subset of FReepers who seem to think that the failure to agree with them, personally, 100% of the time, makes you a RINO. Frankly, I think those people are clueless idiots.

Yet, they are not only clueless idiots, they are also termites undermining support for otherwise reasonably conservative candidates.

Take the idiots trying to attack Scott Brown - here on FR. Their premise? He's not 100% with them, so they'd rather hand the seat to Coakley so she can vote for Obamacare. No thanks. Is Scott Brown a RINO? From what I've seen of his actual record and website, no, he is not. Is he 100% perfect? No, he is not. Yet, there is a vast gulf between someone like him and someone like Dee Dee Scozzafava, VAST gulf. For Massachusetts especially, he is "conservative enough." If a person can't see or understand that, then that person is a certified 40-60 IQ imbecile.

I know what you mean.. I remember some stuff the Reagan did that was not conservative.. The fact is that I vote for the candidate that I like in the primary and then vote for the winner.. What I learn in life is this, you make lemon out of lemonade..

While I’m not convinced concerning Medina’s candidacy, primarily because I haven’t figured out yet what her close ties to Ron Paul represent in terms of actual policies and beliefs, her two Republican opponents certainly fall short.

The other point our self appointed "RINO" hunters need to be made aware of.

3 days before the election your choice is a guy who is 80-90% with us and someone 100% opposed to us. Those are our only choices here. There are no other alternatives

All this posturing by a certain cliche of purist Freepers for some mythical dogmatically pure candidate only does one thing, actively help the Obama regime propaganda efforts.
