Obama this morning announced that "the U.S. response to the disaster in Haiti will require 'every element of our national capacity,' including military and civilian forces, to deliver aid" as reported by Roger Runningen and Hans Nichols for Bloomberg:
The president, making a statement at the White House, said he told government agency and department heads that rescue and relief efforts in Haiti "must be a top priority." The U.S. will put $100 million into relief efforts, Obama said.
Spreading generosity and compassion thoughout the world is all well and good but what about making the disasterous American economy -- you know, the economy with a true unemployment rate of 22%, record home foreclosures, a $12 trillion national debt, a looming dollar crisis -- a "top priority" for U.S. agencies? No doubt the $100 million pledged by Obama -- on top of all the manpower resources directed out of the United States into Haiti -- is just the beginning. As the old saying goes: the cobbler's children are always shoeless.

Why is it top priority? It’s not like they’re Muslims.
No doubt much of the relief aid won’t even reach those in true need but will line the pockets of the corrupt
We are seeing the next step in global reparations to blacks regardless of their location or situation. The Kenyan sees the world through eyes of a post-colonial Marxist. Thr Brits colonized Kenya; Kenya is a sh*thole; ergo the Brits (read whites) are to blame. Same for Haiti.... fill in the country of your choice. We are on the path to destruction watching this moron redistribute our money to unions, pedophiles and now blacks who can’t fend for themselves. We’re toast. BTW, we gave thru Catholic Relief Services for Haiti. No way do I want that Commie Obummer getting credit for what God fearing (not Allah) people do for others.
China gives 1 million. Obama borrows 100,000,000,000 from China to give to Haiti. This man is far more dangerous than we could have imagined. That is ten Obamabucks for every Haitian. The Haitian stimulus package and that is just the beginning. Haiti is like the Bates Hotel. We check in and we can not check out. This &^@#%$%$ must be stopped!
Well, there goes that mortgage and car payment that the black female voter was counting on.
Why is Barry not printing $200,000,000? It's not his money.
Hussein just pulls money out of his a**. The Messiah does do wonders!
BTW, “The US SUCKS”...according to The POTUS.
This tragic event in Haiti gives Obozo even MORE leverage by which to hasten the leveling of America down nearer the third world hell-holes with which he, Soros, Rockefeller, et al will - UNLESS STOPPED — one day merge us.
Pray for AMERICA.
If his record on jobs is any indication, look out Haiti here it comes again.
As horrible as that earthquake was, there are many people in this country who are hurting.Could we get help first? I’m not trying to sound cruel, because these poor people are in my prayers, but please do something about this country first,Mr.President!
What do you suggest our government “do”? I thought conservatism was about not relying on the government.
Unfortunately, in Haiti’s case they don’t have that luxury.
And we have selfish reasons for needing to take care of Haiti. One, so we don’t have hundreds of thousands of Haitians coming to our shores, and two, allowing the ChiComs to take care of Haiti, and establish a sphere of influence in the Western Hemisphere.
I don’t want to rely on the government, but the horrific rut we are in needs to be fixed, for lack of a better word. I don’t want to see people suffering, but our economy is so screwed and many people are having a hard time putting food on the table or clothes on their backs. I can’t find a job,and I have a certificate to practice skin care. Five months in school and for what? The flipping fast food joints aren’t hiring, either. That says a lot.
wow ... Top priority to the tune of one HUNDRED million?? Like we have that much money to spare? This is really angering me.
