The Hedgehog is making an interesting and insightful point, I think. The ability to “google” up facts on demand is not a good replacement for actual knowledge and understanding of a topic.
The Internet is a very young thing and we’re still finding all of the ways that it will change our lives. Sure, it’s awesome to have such a wealth of information at our fingertips. Those of us that grew up without it are continually amazed by what it offers to help with our knowledge on pretty much anything we ever want to know. But for a new generation growing up *with* the Internet... you don’t ever have to really *know* anything, since any fact you want is a few keystrokes away.
He might just be right. Why learn it if it is at your fingertips at any time? And having not learned it, it doesn’t build on other knowledge into any real understanding of the world. That’s a very astute observation.
And before y’all wright off Ron Jeremy as just “some dumb porn star” I’d observe that Ron figured out a way for a less-than-fit, chunky, kinda funny-lookin’ guy with goofy hair to have bountiful sex with some of the most gorgeous women on the planet. Thousands of them. Say what you want, but that’s brilliant. For lots of us nerdy fat dudes, he’s a freaking hero. :-)
There are a lot of smart people in porn. The problem is that businesses don’t want smart people-—they won’t robots-—to think and act in the same way. Any sense of individualty or going above and beyond the call of duty is looked down. At my place, I was actually told by a supervisor, that they don’t want me “going above the call of duty” when I did. The problem is that colleges and universities pump these students out and the only job available are name tag jobs earning $11.00. Why do you think that there are so many lawyers at there? A kid graduates with honors in history, math, sciences, etc...where are you supposed to go? The law school is the last refuge for the intelligent, thinking person. Hell, I’m a dean’s list scholar, and I would do porn too...
I understand about business mostly wanting robots and drones. It would be nice if a lot of them had just a bit of intellgence and sense. People like me who are used to running their own lives and having to function for themselves are not wanted a whole lot, it might upset the apple cart. I am not cut out for porn talent but could handle the production and video engineering/technical side of it. Technology is steadily removing the technical hurdles that used required skilled technical types.
Thanks, I haven’t been online much lately.
LOL.
Why yes I do
