I think it has to do with the child abuse witch hunts that swept the country in the 80s and 90s. The Mass. case was the last and most horrendous because after all the children had recanted their stories and the innocent members of an accused family were freed, only the Dad remained in jail with Coakley refusing to release him.

Dorothy Rabinowitz of the Wall Street Journal won a Pulitzer for her incredible campaign to expose the monstrous injustice done to the innocent people accused of child sexual abuse and she made it a crusade to get the man released after 18 years. I think he was a model policeman, an incredible guy and he lost everything.

Some of the cases have mingled together, but I think this is the Coakley case.
