I think maybe I'd go for a governor who's reasonably conservative; has actually completed at least one full term, successfully; and who has plenty of experience -- political and otherwise -- to draw from. Haley Barbour springs to mind.

You have realized that as an overweight "good ole' [white] Southern boy" he'd fit right into the stereotype the Dems are trying to paint, with all opposition to Obama and all the Tea Parties being due to race hatred (see Garafalo's comments, for example?)

He didn't impress me much : to the point that I can't specifically recall a single policy or initiative he championed.

Perhaps. I'm not agitating for a Barbour candidacy, but would point out that he's got a lot more going for him than Palin does. To worry about Garafolo's reaction would be ridiculous.

But speaking of stereotypes..... you don't think Sarah Palin has to fight against one of her own? Among those who are not true believers, she's got a hell of a problem in that arena.
