I find it odd that a profile of Mike Leach remains on the Texas Tech University web site more than a week after Chancellor Kent Hance unceremoniously fired him.

Arguably one of the most innovative coaches in the country, Mike Leach not only has transformed Texas Tech Football, but also the face of college football with an all-out aerial assault. This is evidenced by the number of programs incorporating more passing into their schemes than before. Leach's offense has become a hot commodity as coaching staffs from across the country have come to Lubbock get a glimpse into what makes the program tick; but none have mastered it like the 10th-year coach.

I find it odd that the words above remain on the Texas Tech University web site (as of 3:12 p.m. Central today*), appearing below a photo and profile of former Red Raiders head football coach Mike Leach, more than a week after Chancellor Kent Hance unceremoniously fired the most-successful coach in the school's history.

One would think that, in the wake of a very public and controversial firing stemming from Leach's alleged mistreatment of freshman wide receiver Adam James, Hance would have used his heavy hand to ensure the people in charge of managing the school's web site removed every virtual sign of Leach immediately after the axe of unemployment had fallen on the coach.

Perhaps, the fact that it remains on the site today is a sign that Leach has more support on campus than Hance might want to admit.

The University of Tennessee still had Phil Fulmer’s and his staff’s profile on the official UT athletic department site for several months after he was fired.
