Hoover lived in Britain for years. His opponents read the 14 year residency requirement in the Constitution as "14 consecutive years immediately prior to becoming President" rather than "14 total years in one life," and claimed to have found his name on London voting rolls.
Hoover wasn't yet President when these charges were made, but they were made on the floor of Congress.
Probably this should have been thrashed out before Obama entered the White House, so we could deal with other stuff now.
Especially this part:
"RUMORS ON NATURALIZATION These Whispers Refer to Time in India When Hoover Was Urged to Become a Briton. "
Ironically, Barry actually WAS a Briton at birth.
Folks tried, the courts and the "media" were not interested. In the later case they'd have called anyone who questioned The One's eligibility racist.
