I hope it is released in the US—Like Godzilla it could bring Americans to view Japanese Sci-Fi. With the problems coming from North Korea I bet the Japanese wish they had the Old Yamato back again.

There's no money in releasing this sort of picture in the U.S. Oh, it might get some arthouse play, but up against the Hollywood marketing machine it would vanish like a candle flame in a hurricane. To succeed in American distribution system, a movie must be either a) big, noisy, and stupid enough to appeal to the average American viewer, or b) depraved enough to appeal to jaded U.S. film critics. Yamato is nowhere near stupid enough for the American market, nor does it contain the homosexuality, incest, cannibalism, or pedophilia necessary to please American critics. I expect we'll see it on the torrents within a few days of its release, and for sale on legit DVD soon thereafter.
