Mossberg 500 9 shot Someone broke into my car last night. Fortunately for them my motion detector light scared them off. I have got a Mossberg Home Defender with a super powerful LED flashlight bolted to the front of it. the one pictured holds 8 shells in the magazine and 1 in the chamber for a total of 9.

I have that 590 but with a speed feed stock and a side saddle I put on it. It’s a great 12 gauge.

Exceptional choice.

Nothing says “get the hell out of my house” like charging the pump on a 12 guage......

I have a 12ga. Mossberg Maverick. Our local NAPA dealer was selling 9 LED flashlights with a LED laser. I drilled a hole in the flashlight’s screw-off base then used a machine screw to attach it to the tapped hole in the Mossberg’s barrel retaining screw.

Screw the flashlight back on the base under the barrel and use (2) 8” black nylon wire ties, figure-8-ed, to secure the flashlight to the barrel.

Voila! $6.95 flashlight/laser sight combo. If you bump it the laser alignment shifts at bit, but it still hits within 2-4” at the 5 to 10 yard range for home defense.

Good enough for me. I won’t be trying to shoot the gun or knife out of the home invader’ hand. ;-)

I’ll second your recommendation of a Mossburg 590A1. Great shotgun, good capacity, and very rugged. I’d recommend getting one with the speed feed stock however. I put a side saddle on mine so I’m carrying 10 extra rounds on the gun itself.

Cost on one of these is around $400 or so. Best bet for home defense and it’s even got the evil bayonet lug... LOL
