In a separate chapter he suggests that the perennial question, “Does the end justify the means?” is meaningless as it stands: the real and only question regarding the ethics of means and ends is, and always has been, “Does this particular end justify this particular means?”
Alinsky continues by stating several rules of the ethics of means and ends:

Sanchez is as partisan as they come. Ensign is a dumbass for falling into this trap.
I can’t stand Sanchez - the DUI Murderer - but, Ensign only has himself to blame. What he did was scummy. Not only did he have an affair, but he betrayed a fairly long-time friendship in the process.
esp. with Sanchez he has been talking about him for awhile. Sanchez is so dramatic, like a drama queen. Oh and didnt he run over someone or something, lol. R’s are so stoopid I would have shot back something about his background.

That's true. I was indeed doing something terribly wrong, but when I was indeed doing this wrong thing, I knew that no terrorists were trying to bomb our planes out of the sky because we had a president who kept us safe.
