Well there was a thread here on Michelle Obama and her shoes. The comments about the Presidents wife were sick and I was lambasted for protesting the name calling based upon shoes. Of course it degenerated to remarks about her body, etc. Now I am not a Michelle Obama fan, but I feel that policy issues are fair game not shoe size or body shape. So when we behave this way, what in the world do we expect from the other side.

Believe me, I love Rush and very much dislike the policies of this administration, but if we dish it out, how can we complain when the other side serves it back at us?

Was there a string of comments wanting her "to F*ing die?"

You’re right. When Kennedy was diagnosed with a brain tumor, the admins were busy deleting post after post that were simply not appropriate (and I’m not comparing Kennedy to Rush, I’m just saying because of an illness, people should not be the brunt of jokes or insensitive comments.) If someone thinks this sort of thing doesn’t happen on FR, they’re not paying attention, or the admins are quick enough to delete the inappropriate comments so they aren’t seen.

Actually I did write a vanity article about her clothes, but I never said anything about her body. I actually think she is attractive as long as she doesn't show up in some outfit of her own choosing.

Even at that, I would never wish her dead and I would never cheer over her being ill, as much as I don't like the Obamas.

Yeah but it’s not as if Michele were born with bad looking shoes and couldn’t change them.

Commenting on someone’s poor taste in clothes is fine as far as it goes, but it has no real bearing on a person’s value as a leader, really. Although a leader shouldn’t dress trashy/too trendy, which is I think what I see in Michelle too often. It looks tacky/juvenile.

There’s a big difference between making fun of someone’s foot size and wishing someone dead.

You are comparing shoes to someone suffering a serious heart attack?
You gotta be kidding me.

Comments about someone’s looks are much different than wishing someone dead. I can’t believe you think one even comes close to the other.

Actually, there is a night-and-day difference between us and them. When prominent liberals have faced health crises, the overwhelming majority of posts here on those threads have been supportive and positive and prayerful. Sometimes posts have had to be moderated, but they're a small minority. It's completely unlike DU or Politico or KOS or such. One memorable exception was just too much, and that was when Kennedy died. Even those threads had a good share of positive wishes for the family, but it was unique in that there was a lot of pretty hostile chatter about Teddy. But then again... he murdered an innocent girl and got away with it. It was a lot to hope for that those threads wouldn't devolve, and quickly. But except for that... it should be a source of pride that FR typically does NOT descend into the vulgar outright meanness that liberal sites do.

I suggest you read the DU threads from when Tony Snow Died of cancer and when Barbara Olson was killed on the plane that flew into the Pentagon and then talk about shoe posts.

Why is there always an empty-headed scold like you on these threads?
