A silly scene but a minor quibble in a terrific film with a geniune sense of threat and poignancy.
You should check out the ‘Richard Donner Cut’ of Superman II...it was released a few years ago, and shows the film as it would have appeared if Donner had been allowed to complete both films as originally intended.
