I don’t think they could do anything on a mass scale either. But it is interesting that while everyone is poo pooing the statement in the article that “scientists have just discovered...”, it is in fact real.

Yep. Lots of the main facts are true. The only question is if the juxtaposition of all these facts equal what the article is suggesting.
But it is still a troubling collection of facts just the same.
