This is one way to respond. There are other ways, and we collectively don’t have to choose one or the other. We can respond as if “Politics are national” and we can also respond as if “Politics is local”. Whatever we do will be largely portrayed as a losing effort. The last thing we should do (actually it’s something we’ve already done) is to attempt something large, while expecting immediate *permanent* positive results. “Well, did we win?” “No”. “Darn! When does the Super Bowl air?”

This is a marathon. If all someone will happily participate in is a sprint, then that person will be happier staying home. Not everyone in this country has our basic mindset, and may not ever have it.

We need to use our assets to survive in the next few years. “Shall we use our velvet glove or our iron fist?” Put the iron fist inside the velvet glove. This isn’t going to be easy. I’m tired of hearing things like “It’s over. It didn’t work”.

I like your optimism, but do you honestly ever see any political party willing to slash the entitlements and pork to the bone? Do you ever see a mass refusal of the soft life promised by the Marxists? No more public schools? No more food stamps? No more student loans? No more unemployment checks? No more Part D? No more "research grants?" No more corn subsidies? No more S-CHIP? No more public housing? There is nothing to justify your hope that average Americans will ever stop fleecing to subsidize their own lifestyles or suddenly take responsibility for their own bad choices until it all collapses. You can blame the mentally and socially retarded Democrats all day long (it's easy; they're really, really stupid and greedy), but Gramps and Granny Republican are also children of Marx, and they prove it every time they cash those checks. They don't want freedom, hard work, or sacrifice. They want retirement, fun trips to Branson MO, gallons of coffee, and free pills, so they will step and fetch whenever a bureaucrat barks to have it. The same goes for everyone else who builds his livelihood on Socialism to avoid the humble life of an honest worker, and those people outnumber honest people by a wide margin.

"The Court of Ignobles will talk, and promise, and lie, and their heralds will gasconade. Then the dukedoms will have their bridges and galleries and parks and gilded monuments to nothing. The old and the young, the dullard and the sluggard, the farmer and the banker, the crook and the cleric, the journeyman and the merchandizer, all will stand in rows like a phalanx of mercenaries to get at the pillage and plunder, blood-stained swag stamped with the Imperial Eagle that removes all sin. And should any brave fool endeavor to take away the ill-gotten bread and vainglorious circus, he will be discovered outside the city gate on the morrow, dashed to death on wicked stones, with eleven daggers venting his back and two more gouging his eyes."

"The Mob will have what the Mob will have, and after the few upright and honorable men are driven aside or driven insane, when the soldier is in the bed of the harlot and the bells of warning are sold for wine, when the body politic has become plush and corpulent and torpid like a fatted swine stuffed with apples and marinated in strong spirits, then the Feast of the Ravenous Barbarians will be set upon those loathsome pigs, and every creation from lofty to low will be devoured in a crimson instant."

Do you have a hundred-million men willing to give up the checks and vouchers that the Government prints like stationary at the Chinese Bank of Your Children's Future? Do you have even ten-million? If not, then your marathon is a race to a pit, and your gloved fist of iron is not against Caesar, but against the Mob.
