"Change Gang." I sense a parody coming on. Maybe later this week.]

'Sam Cooke or The Pretenders?'

*** Neither. Jim Croce. :-) ***

'scuse me for buttin' in guys.

'Chain Gang' was written and sung by Sam Cooke and released on July 26, 1960.

'The Pretenders' (Chrissie Hynde & The Pretenders) did 'Back On The Chain Gang'. It was a completely different song. Written by Chrissie Hynde and released on November 12, 1982

And Jim Croce did do a cover version of Sam cooke's 'Chain Gang' but I can't find a release date or which album it was on.

And fwiw, 'Chain Gang' is R&B, while 'Back On The Chain Gang' is Rock & Roll.

And if Charles is going to do a Parody, i'll back off - even though I have my EE-lectric gee-tar out and the amp vol at '11'

Just kidding, the neighbors would shoot me.
I keep the amp (Fender G-Dec) on 5 w/ the gee-tar vol on 3

I'm not familiar with the Pretenders. Jim Croce I was a big fan of, but if he did a cover of "Chain Gang," then that's all it was, a cover of Sam Cooke's song. Sam Cooke did the only version of "Chain Gang" I know.

if Charles is going to do a Parody. . . .

I did. See post 61.
