Byron York asks Why Democrats push health care, even if it kills them
I put the question to a Democratic strategist who asked to remain anonymous. Yes, Democrats certainly understand that voters don't like the current bills, he told me, and they are fully aware they will probably pay a price next year. But they have found a way to view going ahead anyway as the logical thing to do, at least in their eyes.
Who came up with an interesting metaphor ...
-- he compared congressional Democrats with robbers who have passed the point of no return in deciding to hold up a bank. Whatever they do, they're guilty of something. "They're in the bank, they've got their guns out. They can run outside with no money, or they can stick it out, go through the gunfight, and get away with the money."

Makes about as much sense as anything else they do.
“he compared congressional Democrats with robbers who have passed the point of no return in deciding to hold up a bank. Whatever they do, they’re guilty of something. “They’re in the bank, they’ve got their guns out. They can run outside with no money, or they can stick it out, go through the gunfight, and get away with the money.”
The basis of some great political TV ads next year?
Indeed.
What they are handing over to Michael Steele, in the form of advertising ammunition, is nearly an embarassment of riches.
LOL
Why rob a bank?
“Because that’s where the money is.” Willie Sutton (D-NY)
“What they are handing over to Michael Steele, in the form of advertising ammunition, is nearly an embarassment of riches.”
Let’s hope the conservatives have the brains to run with the theme.
He'll almost certainly use it shooting at conservatives or providing covering fire for liberals. Sorta like that million bucks they used electing a Democrat in NY-23.
They will never get another opportunity like they have now to enact elements of their Marxist agenda against a firestorm of protest from the American public. The jig is up and they know it. Might as well rape, pillage and plunder while they have an iron grip on power, because they will be cast aside for decades after this perfect storm passes. Unfortunately, America will never be the same.
They must not be too afraid yet.
We must show them equivalent of the business end of a gun to strike real fear into their minds.
Fear is a great motivator.
What we need is an example or two of what happens when someone strays away from the American taxpayer and profits themselves.
I can’t wait until this next election....

Good grief, you almost had “Steele” and “conservatives” used in the same sentence.
We all know better than that, don’t we?
“Good grief, you almost had Steele and conservatives used in the same sentence.”
Not me, it must have been another post.
The basis of some great political TV ads next year?I've been thinking about political TV ads next year.
What if the media says: "We won't accept any ads that contain untruths"?
And, of course, we KNOW who defines "truth".
“What if the media says: “We won’t accept any ads that contain untruths”?
I think they are legally required to take just about any political ads. The truth never got in the way of the Dems before.
McCain will come out and criticize such ads as “harsh & mean-spirited” .

The value of that speaks for itself ;-)
I hope he has the wit and the desire to use it.He seems to see himself as a moderate Republican and moderate Republicans don't like to use material the other side deems impolite.
