All those reasons and more are what make a perfect “hoax” / “myth” / “religion”. It has to be something that touches the right archetypes within people, and better yet has something for everyone.
Make no mistake though, it’s not over. As far as those people are concerned, nothing has changed.
One you integrate a belief system, and begin to define yourself with relation to that system, you don’t give it up over little things like logic or evidence.
