No, let’s not bury Target. I just picked them for the satire. But you can still send it to friends and family with a note that it is satire.

I appreciate the effort, but overall didn’t care for it. Until I read further in the comments, I was under the impression that Target was a problem store with regards to Christmas. You might have done better to come up with some clever box store generic name. Or maybe used one like Best Buy, where they recently wished a Happy Eid Al Adha in their Thanksgiving flier.
However, the biggest problem I have is that of the actions taken by your Christian character. Those actions seem pretty out of character for a Christian.
So in the end, to me anyway, it felt more like a hit piece on Christians than it did on the commercialization of Christmas.

Glad you enjoyed it, elcid. Thank you for reading, as well as reading between the lines. And yes, Jack Cass does have a cousin named Al Kahalic!

Instantly the sobbing cashier broke out into loud guffaws of laughter, equally uncontrollable. At that moment, I decided that I really didnt need to return the bad device, that it would be better if I just got a replacement somewhere else.Ah, yes, the ever popular crocodile tears. Great story!

People this is satire. Mr. Jack Cass (Jackass) and Ms. Gospel? The realy give away was the following:
On Monday, December 7, 2009, Target, known for its contentious policies towards Christians and Christmas in general, released a statement concerning the matter: Although what Mr. Jack Cass did was wrong, Target discourages the act of hiring Christians, largely because of their religiously fanatical beliefs. Ms. Gospel is a great example of just that. Christmas is widely known as a pagan holiday, and Mr. Cass was simply trying to adhere to those policies we have instituted so as not to offend anyone. Ms. Gospel will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
If Target said that, there would be the biggest class-action lawsuit in history.

It gets tiresome clicking on what appear to be news stories to find more attempts at satire, some that land and most that don’t. Believe me, I have NO problem with seeking humor in world events, but “humor” or “satire” in brackets in the headline would be helpful. Based on the excerpt, you’ve basically slandered Target.

I think I would have at least tried to find out what this girl was crying about and what the manager was so angry about. You can’t just tell part of a story. I need to know the rest. Go back to the store and find out and then report back! :)
